ELECTRICAL ENERGY CONSERVATION USING EEM

ABSTRACT:

Electric motors are the prime movers of any industry. The electric motor industry in India has been established over 70 years as a mature and able manufacturing sector, serving the needs of the Indian industries. Several technological developments due to extensive -Research and Development (R&D) work have resulted in the production of electric motors of optimum performance matching the international standards.

One of the areas where recent developments have resulted in much desired performance improvements is the efficiency of the motor. During the last decade, High Efficiency motors (Energy Efficient Motors, EEM) have been developed to reduce the internal losses and to increase efficiency by reducing input power consumption of the motor. Electric motors consume 65 to 70 % of all electrical energy. Improving efficiency of motors is therefore a national priority.
