WIRELESS SYSTEMS
ABSTRACT :
Wireless is a term used to describe telecommunications in which electromagnetic waves (rather than some form of wire) carry the signal over part or all of the communication path. A wireless network operates just as its name suggests: it connects computers to a pre-existing network without the use of additional cabling. Instead, wireless technology employs ultra high-frequency radio signals to send and receive data.
Wireless networks serve as the transport mechanism between devices and among devices and the traditional wired networks (enterprise networks and the Internet). Wireless networks are many and diverse but are frequently categorized into three groups based on their coverage range:
Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN) : 2G cellular, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM).
Wireless local area network (WLAN) : Hiper LAN, and several others.
Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) : Bluetooth and IR.
There are four types of wireless networks ranging from slow and inexpensive to fast and expensive
Bluetooth:-Bluetooth is wireless and automatic, and has a number of interesting features that can simplify our daily lives.
IrDA:-( Infrared Direct Access) is a standard for devices to communicate using infrared light pulses
Home RF (SWAP):-RF stands for radio frequency, is an alliance of businesses that have developed a standard called shared wireless access protocol -(swap).
WECA (Wi-Fi):-wireless fidelity.
Satellite television, cellular phones and pagers, Cordless computer peripherals, Home-entertainment system control boxes Wireless LANs or local area networks are the applications of wireless systems.
In this paper we are focusing on WIRELESS FIDELITY (Wi-Fi)
