NANOTECHNOLOGY

NANOTECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT:

The shotgun marriage of chemistry and engineering called “Nanotechnology” is ushering in the era of self-replicating machinery and self-assembling consumer goods made from cheap raw atoms. The general-purpose ability to manipulate structures with atomic precision and low cost is called Nanotechnology. “Molecular Nanotechnology (MNT)” is much different, much more useful and dynamic. Positional Assembly and Self-Replication are two concepts of nanotechnology.
Elbert Einstein first proved that each molecule measures about a nanometer in diameter. In 1959, it was Richard P. Feynman who predicted a technological world composed of self-replicating molecules whose purpose would be production of nano-sized objects. The STM and AFM are two main tools of Nanotechnology.
Nanocomputer is a computer whose fundamental components measure only a few nanometer (<100nm). Electronic nanocomputer would operate in a manner similar to the way present-day microcomputers work. Electronic nanocomputer appears to present the easiest and most likely direction in which to continue computer development in the near future. The power and speed of computer have grown rapidly because of rapid progress in solid-state electronics dating back to the invention of the transistor in 1948. Nanotechnology is used in medical field such as Super Medicine, Life Extension and cryonics. This technology is also used to preserving the information in our long-term memory might require as little as 10^9 bits. In the near future, a team of scientist will succeed in constructing the first nano-size Robot capable of self-replication.
