ABSTRACT:

The robots are being extensively used in industries now a days robots can be seen as better option to a human performer in terms of accuracy repeatability ability to work in hazardous environment etc.

This paper gives a short introduction to basics of robotics and applications. It describes the very basics of robotics like sensors and effectors,manipulators,control unit,and gives an overview on robotics history.

A case study in paper describes an assistive robot.Robotic technology can be used in several ways to benefit people with disabilities. This case study describes the mountings of a robotic arm to a powered wheelchair to assist disabled user,there are also very strong requirements and compromises,which must be considered in integrating robotic arm with wheel chair.This case study focuses on how these integration issues have been addressed.
