GAS LIQUEFACTION SYSTEMS IN CRYOGENICS

GAS LIQUEFACTION SYSTEMS IN CRYOGENICS

INTRODUCTION

The word cryogenics means, literally, the production of icy cold; however, the term is word is used today as a synonym for low temperatures. In the field of cryogenic engineering, one is concerned with developing and improving low temperature techniques, processes and equipments.

The point on the temperature scale at which refrigeration ends and cryogenics begins is not sharply defined. But it is chosen that the field of cryogenics involve the temperatures below 123 K. this is a logical dividing line because the normal boilieng points of the so-called permanent gases lie below 123 K.The position and range of the field of cryogenics are illustrated on a logarithmic thermometer scale.
