Industry specific XML Processing and Storage

Industry specific XML Processing and Storage

Abstract

Many industries have created consortia to define XML formats that are used for exchanging messages. These messages are transmitted in a variety of ways including file transfer, Web services, message queues, etc. This talk will provide an overview of these message exchange formats, and how they are increasingly being used in client side processing as well as for storage - creating an XML end-to-end style of application. Related topics such as XML schema evolution and the application of constraints through XML schema validation and through languages such as schematron will be described, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
