VRML Background
VRML was born to solve the problem that how to put
compelling 3D on the every pc connected to the
web
The origin of VRML date back to the middle of 1994
to a European web conference in which Tim Berners-
Lee Talked about the need for a 3d web standard.He
coined the name VRML(Virtual Reality Markup
Language)
The name of the vrml Was Quickly changed to
Virtual reality modeling language to reflect the
emphasis on worlds rather then pages or text.
What We need for VRML..???
The minimum configuration for using VRML on a PC is a
486 processor running at 100 MHz with no less then 8 MB
of RAM.It must be running with Winsows 3.1 installed .
VRML files are written into plain text. So they need a
simple text editor like note pad or word. To browse the
documents two most popular browsers are as below
Internet Explorer from Microsoft & Netscape Navigator from Netscape communication
To browse VRML files we also need to install some
programs with these browsers .These programs are called
plug-ins.The most popular of these is COSMO PLAYER
