VLSI DESIGN
Abstract
VLSI i.e. Very Large Scale Integration is a technique using which product makers are designing more & more complex chips. VLSI is to optimize the hardware-software integration for lowest total cost of acquisition of products.
Design activities include schematic design of ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) in CMOS & other technologies using standard cell, gate arrays, & CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device)/FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) methodology. ASIC is the custom designing integrated circuit for particular application.
VHDL is a hardware description language. It is an offshoot of very high-speed integrated circuit (VHSIC) program. VHDL can handle complex circuits. It is mainly documentation & simulation language, later synthesis tools to describe hardware design at the register transfer level embraced it.
VHDL/Verilog/Vera/E languages are used for design services verification and testing. Design flow of VLSI gives detail steps from behavioral representation-logic representation-circuit representation-layout representation. Perl 5 is the latest version in an ongoing evolution of the Perl language. The Perl 5 interpreter and language were released a few years ago. Embedded system provides world class tool for VLSI. The number of applications of integrated circuits in high performance computing, telecoms, multimedia & consumer electronics has been rising steadily & at very fast pace.
