Greenstone in Practice.
Abstract
The Greenstone Digital LIbrary Software has been used to make many digital library collections. Some were created within the New Zealand Digital Library project as demonstration collections. However, the use of Greenstone internationally is growing rapidly, and several web sites show collections created by external users. Most contain unusual and interesting material, and present it in novel and imaginative ways. This talk briefly reviews a selection of Greenstone digital library sites to give a feeling for what public digital libraries are being used for.
Examples are given from -- different countries: China, Germany, India, Russia, UK, US; different kinds of library: historical, educational, cultural, research; different sorts of source material: text, document images, pictures, voice.
