ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

Mepco Schlenk Engineering College (MSEC), Sivakasi is one of the leading private engineering colleges under self-financing scheme. The college was established in the year 1984 by Mepco Schlenk Administrative Committee. The college is certified by ISO 9001:2008. This institution has been honored with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award by ISTE in recognition of the best overall performance in the field of Technical Education in the country for the years 1998 and 2005. All the eligible Engineering Departments are accredited by NBA. The college was ranked 62nd among all technical institutions in India including IITs and NITs by Outlook Survey June, 2009. (Ref. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department has achieved excellence in academic and research work. It has been recognized as Research Centre to have interaction with Anna University for collaborative research programme which leads to Ph.D. and M.S. degree by research. So far it has carried out 12 Research projects worth of more than Rs. Four Crore. The Department is accredited by NBA for three years.

MISSION TARGET

Fiber reinforced composites are extensively used in aerospace industry as they offer high specific modulus and high strength. Among the modern structural materials, composite materials have tremendous advancement in science and technology. The low density, high strength, high stiffness to weight ratio, excellent durability and design flexibility are the primary reasons for their applications in aircraft, automotive, marine and other industries.
The course will enable the teachers to handle subjects like Composite Materials, Structural Materials, and advanced Strength of Materials, etc in automobile and aeronautical engineering. They can guide the students in projects in designing and Fabrication of composite laminates for various stacking sequences.

OBJECTIVES

To provide the participants with in-depth understanding of the basis of composite material. To enrich the knowledge of faculty members about the different types of Fibre reinforced polymers. To focus the usage of composite materials for aerospace applications. The focus will be on the research work of both academicians and industries.

REGISTRATION FEE

Refundable Registration fee is Rs. 200/- per participant from AICTE approved Engineering Colleges. Rs. 1000/- for participants from industry, R&D, Government Departments and other educational institutions. Demand Draft to be taken in favour of Principal, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College payable at Sivakasi.

TRAVELLING, BOARDING AND LODGING TA :

Sleeper class to & fro train fare by shortest route will be provided on production of the tickets for the faculty from AICTE approved Engineering Colleges. Free Boarding and lodging for faculty from AICTE approved Institutions. For others it will be available at nominal rates.
