ABSTRACT
Utilizing resources effectively is imperative to withstand global competition. Quite obviously engineers put in a lot of efforts to reduce downtime of plants which results in better utilizing of man , material . Condition Based Maintenance of rotating machines is powerful tool for minimizing the downtime .
This paper aims at taking overview of Condition Based Maintenance with the application as Condition Monitoring Techniques. The paper discusses in detail about the method of Condition Based Maintenance and its applications.
Various Condition Monitoring Techniques are discussed in brief such as Contaminant monitoring , force monitoring, temperature monitoring, corrosion monitoring, liquid contamination monitoring, noise monitoring, vibration monitoring, etc. As vibration is the most suitable parameter for measurement. Vibration Monitoring is discussed in detail.
The paper also discusses the economics and future developments of Condition Monitoring.
