One Week Staff Development Programme on Advances in Data Structures (ADS 2009) (December 14 - 18, 2009)

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE

Teachers are the most vital component of the technical education system. In-service training of teachers for upgradation of their knowledge and development of professional skills, therefore plays a vital role in the development of technical education system. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has initiated the process to full fill this requirement for technical teachers. AICTE has provided the guidelines to the recognized institutes for conducting the short term courses (staff development programmes) in different specialized areas for these faculty members for knowledge upgradation. In this context, the computer engineering department of S. V. National Institute of Technology is organizing the short term training programme on Advances in Data Structures (ADS2009). The programme is aimed to strengthen and impart the advanced knowledge in the area of data structure for their research work. The course will serve as a fresher course for newly recruited faculty members in different institutes and at the same time the topics like advanced data structures and standard template library will be very useful to all senior faculty members teaching this subject at UG level. The major emphasis is on advanced topics and hands on experience.

TOPICS

During one week staff development programme the following topics will be covered. The content of the programme is not limited to the topics listed here.
• Basics of data structures and preliminary data structures
• Advanced data structures
• Objected oriented data types
• Graph traversal, Sorting, Merging, Searching Algorithms
• Queuing theory and its applications
• Applications of data structures
• Asymptotic and probabilistic analysis
• Standard template library – Iterators, Containers, Generic algorithm etc.

ELIGIBILTY

Faculty Members from AICTE recognized institutes are eligible for this STTP.

Registration Fees

There is no registration fee for the STTP for Faculty / Teachers of AICTE recognized institutes. The application of the candidate should reach on or before (1 December 2009) with sponsorship letter from the parent institute to the following address.

ACCOMODATION

The accommodation will be provided to outstation participants in the college staff quarters / guest house / student hostels as per institute’s norms on first come first serve basis. The lodging will be provided to the faculty members of AICTE recognized institutes only. The TA to outstation participants will be provided as per AICTE norms to the faculty members of AICTE recognized institutes.
