USE OF SOLAR ENERGY FOR POWER GENERATION
ABSTRACT
Today’s world scenario is that the whole world is facing the present energy problem and environmental pollution. The solar energy technologies attracting world-wide attention, owing to their non-polluting & large scale utilization possibilities. They are affordable and competitive and thus providing solid solution to deal with energy problems without suppressing the need of combustible fuel.
The paper stresses about how the collector by heating air using the smoke jack principle with the help of chimney, hence worked as the plants actual thermal engine to run the wind turbine driving mechanical output by vertical air current in chimney
An effort has also been taken to discuss solar chimney on international grid & how small numbers of chimney can be used to replace a large nuclear power plant, and their cost effectiveness. The future technology will be the regenerator type design to improve the efficiency of plant by reducing energy losses.
