ODOUR POLLUTION AND ITS CONTROL
ABSTRACT
Air quality is affected not only due to conventional air pollutants but also due to unpleasant odour. Odour has distinctly different characteristics and is undoubtedly the most complex of all the air pollution problems. Till date, not much attention has been paid towards odour problems in India. However , the developed countries of the west are now turning their attention towards odour pollution since mal-odour beside effecting environment also adversely effects human health by adding to the respiratory problems of workers working in extreme unhygienic conditions of the industries.
This paper is an attempt to throw some light on the causes, processes of odour formation as also sampling and measurement, control and treatment technologies with special reference to the use of bio-oxygen in treating odour.
