ODOUR POLLUTION AND ITS CONTROL

ODOUR POLLUTION AND ITS CONTROL

ABSTRACT

Air quality is affected not only due to conventional air pollutants but also due to unpleasant odour. Odour has distinctly different characteristics and is undoubtedly the most complex of all the air pollution problems. Till date, not much attention has been paid towards odour problems in India. However , the developed countries of the west  are now turning their attention towards odour pollution  since mal-odour  beside effecting environment also adversely effects human health by  adding to the respiratory problems  of workers working in extreme unhygienic conditions of the industries.

This paper  is an attempt to throw some light on the causes, processes of odour formation as also sampling and measurement, control and treatment technologies  with special  reference  to the use of  bio-oxygen in treating odour.
