Gearbox Design
Introduction:
Gearbox is a heart of every automobile. It may be small car or heavy-duty vehicles. It is used for varying the torque as per requirment. The gear box incorporated in itself various gear mechanisms. Which make it quite bulkier. Also it is a heaviest component after the engine in the automobile.
Basically the gear box is designed such that it should provide a reasonable service on long run. The material used for gear box is of high quality. So they do not wear out quickly But cases are there when the gear box works out to be troubleshooting.
For example :- dut to improper gear shifting gear may break and cause problems.
The outer most important case when the gear box gives troublesome is when the clutch plate wears and break in to pieces. In that situation we have to disassemble the gear box for replacing the clutch plate.
Conventional method:
When the gear box or clutch plate proves to be troublesome, we have to remove the gear box completely from the automobile.
In conventional method of lowering the gear box especially in case of heavy duty vehicles the gear box is lowered with the help of ropes. The gear box ix mounted exactly below the drivers cabin. In that case two workers stand inside the babin and with the help os rope wound the gear box. They have to lower the gear box after unscrewing the bolts of the gear box.
After the repair work the gear box is brought back below the vehicle. The gear box is properly positioned and with the help of rope wound around it is pulled up by two man standing in the cabin. Two man standing in the cabin should be strong enough to hold the gear box until the man below automobile puts back the bolt of the gear box
