EMBEDDED SYSTEM
ABSTRACT:
Embedded system means the processor is embedded in to particular application .An embedded product uses a microprocessor or microcontroller to do a special task only. An embedded system is a special-purpose system in which the computer is completely encapsulated by the device it controls. In an embedded system, there is only one application software that is typically burned into ROM.Every week millions of tiny computer chips come pouring out of factories like Phillips & Intel and find their way into our everyday products. As electronics & computer engineers we play a major role in all phases of this effort : planning , design ,analysis , manufacturing & marketing.
The first recognizably modern embedded system was the Apollo Guidance Computer, developed by Charles Stark Draper at the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory. The first mass-produced embedded system was the Autonetics D-17 guidance computer for the Minuteman missile, released in 1961. It was built from discrete transistor logic and had a hard disk for main memory.
As we know Smart card is one of the most used embedded systems today . It is used for credit \ debit bank card , ATM card, identification card & cards for a number of new innovative applications. An Automated Teller Machine or Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is a computerized telecommunications device that provides a financial institution's customers a secure method of performing financial transactions in a public space without the need for a human clerk or bank teller.Using an ATM, customers can access their bank accounts in order to make cash withdrawals (or credit card cash advances) and check their account balances.
