Embedded system

Embedded system

ABSTRACT:

Embedded Systems:

Embedded systems are self-contained programs that are embedded within a piece of hardware. Whereas a regular computer has many different applications and software that can be applied to various tasks, embedded systems are usually set to a specific task that can not be altered without physically manipulating the circuitry. Another way to think of an embedded system is as a computer system that is created with optimal efficiency, thereby allowing it to complete specific functions as quickly as possible.

There are different ways of defining an embedded system.

Most microcomputers are used within embedded systems that perform some specific function. The term embedded system is nebulous one that encompasses just about everything except desktop PCs. An Embedded system is one that is preprogrammed to perform a dedicated or narrow range of functions as part of larger system, usually with minimal end user or operator intervention.

An embedded system can be defined as the computing device that has computer hardware with software embedded in it as one of its most important component. It may be either an independent system or a part of a larger system.
Embedded systems designers usually have a significant grasp of hardware technologies. They use specific programming languages and software to develop embedded systems and manipulate the equipment.

Children need embedded systems to play smart video games and to operate automatic coffee-maker machines. Young people need embedded systems to borrow smart cards from parents to see movies. Housewives need embedded systems for smart internet-compliant home appliances such as microwave, television, music system and so on. The driver needs these for automatic cruise control of car. Organizations require embedded systems for network systems and products. There are uncountable examples of the application of embedded systems. The embedded technology is jumping into the ongoing vast field of computers, thus enhancing these defences (military aerospace, avionics)-requirements like robustness, compact size, durability have been overcome satisfactorily.

Development in embedded technology has secured a better place in world market. Applications of embedded system made devices friendly, cheap, efficient thus making human life easier and sophisticated.
