ABSTRACT:

The topic gives the description about the new color capturing technology in digital camera called as X3 technology developed by Foveon.

Most of the Current digital cameras use mosaic capturing technology to capture color. In this technology, only one color is captured per pixel therefore in order to estimate the value of other two colors they must relay on complex mathematical algorithms. Because of this unwanted color artifacts are present in those photographs.

Foveon has introduced new revolutionary X3 image sensor technology, in which every pixel captures all three colors, therefore avoid need of interpolation to estimate color at every pixel. This Yields better quality, greater resistance to artifacts, simpler to manufacture.

Also, its new characteristic Variable Pixel Size (VPS) , opens door to new kind of camera , which can perform both still photography and video recording without sacrificing quality in either mode.
