International Conference on Genomics & Proteomics At National Institute of Technology, Calicut

OBJECTIVES

Genomics and proteomics are at the cutting edge of modern research in the field of biotechnology. The future of genomics and proteomics holds a great deal of promise for mankind. Technology and resources generated by
the Human Genome Project and other genomics research are already having a major impact on life sciences research. The applications of genomics range from Molecular medicine, Energy sources and environmental applications to bioarchaeology, anthropology, evolution and forensics. Proteomics came into prominence after 1997 and quickly became a popular research avenue, holding much greater importance than scientists initially suspected. Proteomics as a complement to genomics, involves the large-scale analysis of proteins and their structure with applications in medical diagnosis, cancer prediction and discovering new molecular targets for accelerated drug discovery. The main objective of the conference is to discuss the progress, achievements and the future direction of the interrelated fields of genomics and proteomics. The conference will serve as a platform to bring together students, academicians and researchers to share their innovative ideas and experience in these exciting fields.

POST SYMPOSIUM TOURS

Calicut, an important city in State of Kerala, found a place in the World History with the discovery of Sea route to India in 1498 by the Portuguese navigator Vasco Da Gama. Basking in the idyllic setting of the serene Arabian Sea on the west and the proud peaks of the Wayanad hills on the east, Calicut is known for its serene beaches, lush green countryside, historic sites, calm backwaters, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers and ayurvedic treatment.

CLIMATE

Calicut weather and climate is almost pleasant throughout the year. The evenings are usually pleasant due to offshore winds. During July, it is monsoon and hence the weather is rainy and cool. The place does not experience chilly mornings
or evenings and the place has an average temperature of 28o to 30oC

All the participants of the conference and accompanying members are required to register by giving their details as per the format given in the brochure along with the required registration fee. Fee should be paid as crossed DD drawn in favour of “INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIOTECHNOLOGY– 2011, NIT CALICUT” Payable at Calicut.

Accommodation during the period of conference for the delegates will be arranged on request and on payment basis. Prior communication to the organizing committee is needed to get accommodation.
