National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 2011 At Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

About the Conference

Aspirations and needs of mankind are ever growing, and so also the need for refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC). Now it is an important aspect of human life including essential applications from submarines to airplanes, underground mines to space, comfort purpose to manufacturing industries. The importance of ‘cold chain’ in the national food security has now been recognized. In the recent years, RAC industry recorded an annual growth of over 25 % in India, next only to Information Technology and Automobile sectors. However, RAC is also an energy guzzler accounting to nearly one sixth of the world energy consumption. Even though the objective of Montreal Protocol governing the ozone depletion is nearly met, those of Kyoto Protocol centered on the emissions leading to Global Warming are yet to be realized. Thus both energy and environmental aspects play an important role in the development of RAC sector world over.
The National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (NCRAC-2011) is scheduled to be held during 21 – 23 July 2011 at IIT Madras. The Conference aims to bring together leading experts in the field from academia, industry and consultancy from all over India. It provides a platform to discuss the latest trends and ongoing research, and share/disseminate the knowledge, thereby popularizing the subject amongst budding engineers and scientists. The conference offers an excellent opportunity to exchange information amongst researchers working in Academic Institutions / R&D organizations, to present and publish research findings and interact with the experts.
