CALICUT
Basking in the idyllic setting of the serene Arabian sea on the west and mesmeric peaks of the Wayanad hills on the east, Calicut (Kozhikode) has all the ingredients to fascinate a tourist. Once the capital of the powerful Zamorins and a prominent trade and commerce centre, this part of Kerala was the most important region of Malabar in the days gone by. Today, lush green country sides, serene beaches, historic sites, wild life sanctuaries, rivers, small water falls, hills, a unique culture and a warm friendly ambiance make Calicut a popular destination to visit. Tusharagiri water falls, Peruvannamuzhi dam site set amid hills is a beautiful picnic site with uninhibited islands, a bird sanctuary and a crocodile farm add to the charm of the place. Tali Temple, Kappad beach, Malabar House boats, Kadalundi bird sanctuary etc. are some of the major attractions.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CALICUT
Set in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, the green campus of NITC is located about 22 kilometers north - east of Calicut City. It stretches over a length of about 1.5 Kilometers along the Calicut-Mukkam road. The nearest airport is Calicut, which is approximately 45 km away from the campus. The fully residential NITC campus houses academic buildings, hostels, residences and other amenities among its infrastructure. The Institute is presently offering 10 UG programs with a total intake of 1030 and 25 PG programs including MBA with a total intake of 495. The Doctoral level research has remarkably increased in the recent times, and there has also been a substantial increase in sponsored research and consultancy
