Short Term Course on Environment Management in Process Industries At National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar
OBJECTIVES
The tremendous increase in world population needs greater requirement of resources to improve human life.
However, this in turn has resulted into a tremendous load on mother earth. Process industries are a major source of hazardous and non-hazardous pollutants. It is, therefore, important to balance the economic growth with the conservation of natural resources. Process industries need to switch over to the environmentally benign technologies. It is important to practice efficient management methods in processes for waste minimization, to develop cost effective waste treatment technologies, and to provide better working conditions to the workers in regard to health and safety. The objectives of the above course are
to bridge the gap between the academia and the industry, and to update the knowledge and skills of the technical teachers and process engineers in the current and emerging issues related to the areas of environment, health and safety.
