How did it begin?
New Zealand CNG Industry
• Late 1970’s: New Zealand government initiated a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle fuel programme
• Early 1980’s: Approximately 140,000 motor vehicles running on CNG and more than 450 public CNG refueling stations
• 1987: Political change and lower oil price resulted in withdrawal of government support, severely deteriorating the CNG programme
