ABS WITH FUZZY LOGIC

ABSTRACT

Many of the people thought that, stopping of a vehicle suddenly is done by pressing the brake pedal very hard ,but it is not so. Because by pressing the brake pedal hard, the rotating wheels get locked due to which they go on slipping on the road and also takes more time stop because for slipping wheels there is kinetic friction between road and wheel, due to which there is less friction .And also due to locking of wheels, the driver is not able to steer the wheel in either direction .Thus due to hard braking the vehicle takes more time to stop and also the tyres wear and there are chances of accident.
In order to avoid this ,the automobile engineers developed the Anti-Lock braking system(ABS) that allows the wheels to start rotating again at the moment when locking action was sensed .In active automotive safety technology ,the ABS is considered to be as a  major development .It helps to maintain the complete control of vehicle even when braking hard .
It uses a series of sensors and an actuator to adjust the brake pressure which is applied on the brakes while braking .As the brakes are applied and if electronic control unit senses that the wheel is approaching lock up then and then only it sends a signal to hydraulic actuator to reduce the pressure on the brakes so as to avoid the lock up of wheels.
If there is normal braking then ABS works normally and also if the system fails due to certain reasons then also it cannot effect the normal braking.
