Objectives of the Course

This one week short term training course is specially designed for the faculty from the engineering colleges to upgrade their knowledge with recent advances in waste minimization and bio-energy recovery processes. The contents of the course are helpful for the participants from the industry and practicing engineers engaged in environmental consultancy. Advances in the biotechnology in the recent times have opened plenty of opportunity to recover energy from the biomass. The energy can be recovered in the form of methane, ethanol, bio-diesel, hydrogen, etc. It is exciting to learn that the energy in the form of direct electricity can be recovered during waste treatment. Such energy recovery process can be particularly helpful for remote application, powering some onsite devices. The deliberations in the course will provide opportunity to the participants to gain knowledge of these upcoming technologies. Following topics will be covered during this one week course with special emphasize on waste minimization practices adopted in the industries and recovery of energy in different forms during waste management.

Resource Persons

The teaching faculty will constitute experts from different disciplines of IIT Kharagpur and guest speakers from other reputed organizations.

Printed volume of lecture notes will be made available to the registered participants.

Eligibility

Teacher candidate from AICTE approved Engineering Colleges/ Universities are eligible to attend this course with free registration, after selection. Practicing engineers from private and Government organizations, Scientists/ Engineers from R&D establishments are eligible to apply for participation with payment of registration fees.

Boarding and Lodging

Arrangement will be made to accommodate all the participants in the Visveswaraya guest house on twin sharing basis at IIT, Kharagpur. The charges for accommodation per person (twin sharing basis) will be Rs. 150/- per day.

Registration Fee

No registration fees will be charged to the participants from AICTE approved institutions. However, a caution fee of Rs. 500/-(Rupees five hundred only) is to be paid along with the application form. The caution money is refundable only to (a) applicants who are not selected (b) selected applicants who attend the course.Participants from Industry, Government Departments etc., have to pay Rs. 5000/- per candidate as registration fee, which is to be sent along with the application form.

Mode of Payment

All payments should be made by a crossed Demand Draft in favour of "CEP-STC, IIT, Kharagpur" payable at Kharagpur.
