Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (V-TECH)

Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control

V-TECH mean the Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control . The basic difference from a normal engine is the ability to switch lift and timing of the inlet valve depending on the speed of the engine . In a slow speed environment as usually found in city driving , the valve should open less and stay open for a shorter time . In performance driving environment, it’s just the opposite –the valves open more and for longer time, to allow air –fule mixtuer into the cylinders.
Sine the valve lift and timing are decided by the profile of the cam that they are operated by any change will necesssitate a change of profile or of the cam itself.V-TEC uses the latter option by providing three cam for two inlet valve .At slow speed ,the outer and two cam operate the two valve opening them in correct configuration for economy driving .Once the preset limit is reached ,a hydraulic pin lock the center of cam onto these two and causes both valve to fllowos the profile on the center cam.,which is tailored for performance driving. By doing so the engine tries to meet the diverse driving need ,optimizing efficiency and lowering pollutants without sacrifing power.
