INTRODUCTION

The programme promotes the understanding of metallurgical aspects while selection of material with respect to Tribological application. Tribology is a subject of wear, friction and lubrication of dynamic system. Development of innovative engineering systems and process greatly depends on availability of high performance of materials. The properties of existing materials can be varied by understanding their Metallurgical aspects. The programme provides a forum in which the participants obtain information about recent advances of Heat treatment, Surface Engineering and learn about the background and importance of Tribology and its industrial utilization. AICTE-Sponsored this STTP course will deal in Metallurgical Aspects of Tribology and will provide a unique opportunity for participants. Senior faculty from IITs, NITs, CSIR, M.S.U and Industry will share their expert knowledge/experience in various scheduled sessions on given topics. The course also takes care of arranging industry visit and interaction session to understand the subject.

Recent advances of Heat treatment and Surface Engineering, Introduction to Tribology, Advances in Tribology &Plant
Maintenance, Metallurgical Design Consideration, Conditioned maintenance, Reliability, Maintenance of rotating equipments, Engine Tribology, Advance materials for Tribological application, Tribology & Productivity, Nano Tribology,
Documentation, Preventive maintenance Electrical-electronic appliances, Case – studies.

Faculty from AICTE recognized Institutes are eligible to apply from all the disciplines

The duly filled up registration form may be sent either through e-mail or as a hard copy on or before 21stNov 2009, endorsed by Head of Institute with seal.

COURSE FEE

No fee for the Faculty / research scholar from AICTE approved institutions. Selected Participants are eligible for free boarding and lodging in the institute’s hostels. To and fro charges limited to AC 3-Tier train or AC deluxe bus fair will be reimbursed to faculty.

ACCOMODATION

Accommodation will be provided to interested participants in institute hostels on prior request.

ABOUT SVNIT SURAT

The institute was established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College and was given a Deemed University status on 4th October 2002 as a National Institute of Technology. The institute is located 10 kms away from the Surat Railway Station. Surat is located about 250 kms from Mumbai on Mumbai-Baroda Western railway line. It has many well known industries like RIL, ONGC, KRIBHCO, L&T, ESSAR, NTPC, GAIL, over and above the Textile & Diamond Industries.
