Announcement

The Department of Applied Physics, S. V. National Institute of Technology, Surat is organizing AICTE sponsored Staff Development Programme (SDP) on “Recent Trends In Material Sciences And Technology” from 7th December,09 – 11th
December,09. This SDP is open to teachers of all AICTE approved engineering institutes. The application duly filled in the prescribed form & duly endorsed by the Head of the institution should reach the address mentioned. Limited Boarding facilities on first come first serve basis are available in the Institute Hostel / Guest House for the participant. Lodging and 3rd AC to and fro train fare will be provided as per AICTE norms to the participants.

Objective of the Program

“The more we learn about Physics the more it helps us , and better we understand our place in the Universe”. Physical Sciences underpins many of today’s technologies. It is a key enabler of the rapid advances that are vital for industry to be competitive. Some Physics based companies are at the cutting edge of advances in technologies in Semiconductor
manufacturing, Opto-Electronics, Photonics and telecommunications. Others such as the large electricity generators provide services fundamental to society. Keeping the importance and relevance of the Physical Sciences in our daily lives, a need was felt to make the teachers aware of the advances in the filled of Physical sciences and hence this course is being organized.
The main objectives of the programme
(i) to realize the relevance of the course
(ii) relation of Physical Sciences with other areas
(iii) Advances in the field of Physical Sciences.

Faculty

Resource persons for the SDP will be from IIT’s, NIT’s, Universities and Industries.

The institute was initially established as Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology in 1961, upgraded as a National Institute of Technology with the status of ‘to be deemed university’ on 4th October, 2002 and from 15.8.07 attained as Institute of National Importance vide NIT Act. SVNIT offers 7 UG and 15 PG programme & Five years M.Sc. integrated programme in Sciences & Humanities & Doctoral Programme in Engineering, Science & Technology and is one of the leading NIT across the country.
