About the University

SRM Engineering College was started in the academic year 1985-1986 at Kattankulathur, Kancheepuram District, and TamilNadu. S.R.M. Engineering College has obtained highest grade of accreditation from National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

After the birth of SRM University in the year 2003, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (E&T) was carved out which now contains all the schools and departments related to Engineering and Technology, Management and Architecture and functions in three different campuses namely, Kattankulathur, Ramapuram and Modinagar (near New Delhi). The main sylvan campus of Kattankulathur consists of lush green environment with a buildup area of 1,70,000 sq.m for laboratories, workshops, library, classrooms, Technology Park etc. Excellent infrastructure and world class facilities in the University helps the students and faculty members to pursue their research in an efficient manner.

The University is proudly celebrating the "Silver Jubilee" year of technical education by organizing many technical events.

About the Department

The Department of IT offers an undergraduate programme and Four Post Graduate programme Information Technology, Information Security and Computer Forensics, Database management Systems and Multimedia Systems.

The department is equipped with 350 computing systems spread over seven laboratories to meet the needs of the department. A committed and hard working team of faculty members take care of the academic requirements in an effective manner.

Department of IT had conducted a 3 weeks UGC sponsored Refresher course on '.NET Technologies'. The department organized an International Conference on 'Information Security and Computer Forensics' during Dec, 2006.

Research in the department focuses on Network Security, Wireless Communication, Semantic Web, Data Structures and Algorithms and Data Mining. The IT Department has proposed to start a research center in the field of Information Assurance and Security.

The School of Computer Science and Engineering is conducting an International Conference on "Advances and Emerging Trends in Computing Technologies" during June 21-24, 2010.

About the Course

The .NET Framework is Microsoft's application development platform that enables developers to easily create Windows applications, web applications, and web services using a myriad of different programming languages, and without having to worry about low-level details like memory management and processor-specific instructions.

One of the most important facets of the .NET Framework is language independence. You can write .NET applications using any number of different programming languages. The most popular languages tend to be C# and VB.NET.

After completing this course, the participants will be able to

    * List the major or elements of the .NET Framework

Describe the basic structure of a Visual Basic .NET project and use the main features of the integrated development environment (IDE).

    * Explain and use the basic concepts and terminology of object-oriented programming in .NET
    * Create Internet applications that uses Web Forms and Web Services

Faculty members from Engineering Colleges with specialization in IT/CSE/MCA, affiliated to any university shall attend this STTP.

Registration

The participants are requested to register by sending the duly filled registration form with Demand draft for Rs. 350/- per participant drawn in favour of "IT Association, SRM University" payable at Chennai.

Last Date for receiving completed registration form is 11.11.2009.

Accommodation

Accommodation for outstation participants can be provided at our hostel. A nominal amount for accommodation shall be charged on payment basis.
