BEHEVIOUR OF BLACK- COTTON SOIL WITH GEOTEXTILE FOR THE UNPAVED ROAD
Abstract
In India we are having large number of villages, which are very necessary to connect with the roads, for total development of country. But in some areas due to Black-cotton soil it is very expensive to construct the road and to maintain it in good condition. To overcome this difficulty Geotextile have been extensively used in unpaved roads in different countries. Now, a day’s this technique is widely used in India for the urban roads of cities where there is no wide problem of black cotton soil. The use of geotextile in the pavement and road construction is very popular. Now, a day’s geotextile gives a good result in the construction of road pavement, which are having moderate bearing capacity and low bearing capacity. It reduces the maintenance cost as well as reduces the fuel consumption on the road. This paper deals with the behaviour of black cotton soil when the geotextile material is used for construction of pavement. In this study we try to find out the effect of geotextile layer on the load Settlement behavior of selected black cotton soil. The sample of test is prepared similar to pavement to simulate the field condition with lab condition. The samples are tested with or without geotextile layer and results are compared.
