C-PROGRAM FOR MARSHALL METHOD OF MIX DESIGN
ABSTRACT
Flexible pavements consist of a relatively thin wearing surface over the base and subbase and these rest upon the compacted subgrade. These include primarily the pavements having bituminous surface. For the different types of the bituminous construction, materials of definite grading are required. It may be a case when material of required grading is not available at site and two or more materials are to be mixed to obtain required grading. If the materials to be mixed is more than three, Rothfutch method is most commonly used to decide the proportion of materials. It is a graphical method, involving lot of required grading ,the mix is designed using Marshall method. It also involves tedious calculations, graphs and further analysis. Therefore ,a computer program, named as “C-PROGRAM FOR MARSHALL METHOD OF MIX DESIGN”, has been developed which can draw the proportioning graph and design the mix using Marshall method which helps to determine the Optimum Bitumen Content and various Marshall parameters corresponding to Optimum Bitumen Content with related graphs.
