ERGONOMICS
ABSTRACT
Usually, if you ask a group of office workers who are working at non or semi adjustable furniture whether they are having any problems, it is unlikely that many will complaint.
However, if you ask some employees, as we have done, if they are experiencing lower back pain, muscular tightness, in the shoulders or neck, headache, eyestrain, eye fatigue, arm fatigue, tension, stress or fatigue in general, it is unlikely that any one will not admit to one or more of these various discomforts.
If the work station also has to accommodate “regular” desk work or if the terminal work demands that there is space for unnecessary source documents. It can at times be difficult to create a functional workstation. It is therefore very important to make an accurate analysis of each work arrive at a clear understanding and indication of the correct placement of the different work aids and their space requirements as well as a logical, functional relationship between them and to each other.
With the help of a complete workstation analysis- where for example the storage requirements have also been considered- it can be divided exactly how the terminal work station should look in order to ease the workload. The solutions is easer to arrive at if one is critical , has patience, and relies on a good analyst, this will result in a more congenital atmosphere, lower number of sick days, less personal turnover and high effectivity
