HYDRAULICALLY EFFICIENT CIRCULAR BASED TRAPEZOIDAL CHANNEL
ABSTRACT
This paper deals with the design of hydraulically efficient circular based trapezoidal channel. The various aspects for design of this channel are discussed. The name, itself, indicates shape of channel. This means instead of providing flat base to the trapezoidal channel, circular base is provided. It is known that the conveyance of a channel section increases with increase in hydraulic radius or with decrease in the wetted perimeter. From hydraulic view point, therefore the channel section having the list wetted perimeter, for a given area, has the maximum conveyance; such a section is known as the best hydraulic section. This channel is designed on the basis of above principal. The design of this channel section is purely by analytical method and also by using some charts which are the graphical translation of the analytical expressions derived.
