ABSTRACT

With rapid industrialization, several different types of industries have entered the Indian market. Different industries have different designs, utilities flooring requirements to cater to different stresses they are subjected to. During design stage a lot of stress laid on architectural planning, space utilization, energy conservation, utilities machinery placements ,amenities etc. by industrial architects, designer consultants. Minimum attention is paid to inferior quality floors. In fact, industrial flooring ultimately leading to inferior quality floors. In fact, industrial floor is the most crucial component of the industry as improper flooring can be a real hurdle to continue production, affecting the productivity of the unit.All maintenance engineers are fully aware about the difficulty in repairing industrial flooring without interrupting the production process and this becomes all uphill task for any industry. Therefore, it is imperative that a design of industrial flooring is considered right at the conception stage of the project to avoid any future failure and improper floorings.
Right at the outset, the client or the factory owner should clearly spell out the exact requirements of each and every department in the industry with respect to its usages and this should be technically co-related to the stresses  the flooring has to carry under service conditions. It should be noted that even in one industry there would be different flooring has to carry under service conditions. It should be noted that even in one industry there would be different floorings for different departments and unfortunately there is no universal industrial flooring system to meet all the requirements.
