[B]ABSTRACT:[/B]

The paper presents a general purpose scheduler for micro – level scheduling and planning of AGV systems of flexible manufacturing systems. The personal computer based package employs off line routes generation technique .The package is designed to stimulate both uni-directional and bi-directional traffic flow systems .The process of scheduling includes selection of AGV, selection of optimum path for AGV, traffic control and collision avoidance .The scheduler can handle all types of layout configurations of the guide paths with out any restrictions. The schedules created can be directly used to control any AGVS in practice. The utilization reports of all the AGVS are generated. By simulation runs the optimum number of AGVs that can be put into the FMS can be decided.
