The information has been compiled on the reports of machine design magazines and the websites of leading companies that are manufacturing the various types’ of air bearings. This report represents the current trend in the bearing and guiding assemblies.
This paper includes types & working of various air bearings. Principle of air bearings and superiority over conventional bearings is discussed. On the same way nothing is 100% advantageous like that there are some drawbacks in use of Air Bearings. These can be overcome by certain attempts.
We have now entered in 21st century. As industrial area is developing every day and it is obvious that there has been tremendous advancement in the technology in every field of machine design. Air Bearings are proving to be the best option for it.
