EMBEDDED SYSTEM
Abstract:
With the advances in miniaturization and high performance guarantees in the state of life has become microcontroller assisted. Microcontrollers with other application specific electronics, like sensor circuits, typically manifest as embedded devices which provide the required real time or application specific performance. These smart, portable embedded devices find their place in almost all possible domains one can think of, which includes medical sensors in human body, temperature sensors in kitchen-ware, and signalling sensors in war fields. However, these versatile heterogeneous smart portable devices suffer from one common problem that is lack of continuous power supply. All these devices are battery-driven and need to be recharged after certain duration of operation. In order to extract the best use of these devices, a power efficient decision has to be made in every step of the design and operation of the device. An embedded system, depending on the application, has several constituent components such as processor, memory, I/O, and radio. Here a comprehensive survey on energy awareness in embedded systems from a system perspective focusing on the basic concepts and the various techniques applicable to each component.
