SOFTWARE TESTING
ABSTRACT:
With the advent of millennium we are facing several
network threats. Providing Network Security means controlling systems to prevent any accidental and or intentional data loss. The overall computer security is the protection of data and assets from unauthorized access, use, alteration & destruction. We use computer for everything from banking investment to shopping & communication with others through email or chat programs. The consequences of a break-in cover a broad range of possibilities. A minor loss of time in recovering from the problem, a decrease in productivity, a significant loss of money or staff-hours, a devastating loss of credibility or market opportunity, a business no longer able to compete, legal liability, and the loss of life.
The wireless networks provide tremendous amount of benefits that wired networks can’t provide. However there is a dark side to every technology in the form of how secure the technology is. Vulnerabilities in WEP data encryption, limitations and weaknesses in controlling access, and the very broadcast nature of radio transmissions have all risen as major security concerns. With proper care, it is possible to build a wireless network that is at least as secure as an equivalent wired network. In this paper we review the various ways of securing wireless networks, we look at the risks associated with the implementation of today's wireless networks, and ways of overcoming the loopholes in the implementations of Commercial wireless networks.
Today the threat to the information on the network has grown to the greatest extent. Information is the most vital aspect of every organization and hence network security has become increasingly important. The object of security is to protect valuable or sensitive organizational information as well as making it readily available. Attackers and hackers try to harm a system and disrupt information exploiting vulnerabilities by using various techniques, methods, and tools. Security aims to develop measures and policies to protect assets and limit their vulnerabilities.
Our paper will in depth be dedicated to the study of recent security threats and solutions to tackle them.
