Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Assistant Professor: One should have a Ph.D with first class or equivalent (in terms of Grades etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and at least three years' post-Ph.D. research / industrial/ teaching experience. Candidates not satisfying the experience requirement for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor may be considered for Tenure Track position as Assistant Professor (On Contract) which may be regularized as Assistant Professor (regular) depending upon the performance at the end of the period of contract by IIT Patna.

Associate Professor: One should have a Ph.D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of Grades etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of six years of teaching / research / industrial experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor/Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer.

Professor: One should have a Ph.D with first class or equivalent (in terms of Grades etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record and a minimum of ten years experience, of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor in any of the following: IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such company or other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards as may be so decided by the institute.

At least three reference letters from persons well acquainted with candidate's work are essential for consideration of candidature. Based on the qualifications of the candidates and the need of the department concerned, applications received will be processed at regular intervals.
