AICTE approved Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on Microcontrollers and their Applications 14th - 18th December 2009

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Electrical Engineering Department was started in 1967. Over the years, the Department has progressed at a rapid pace with the development in the spheres of infrastructural facilities and advanced syllabi. The Department is offering M. Tech. (Industrial Electronics) and Ph.D. programs since year 2006. The Department’s various Laboratories are equipped with latest equipments, Computers and latest Software related to subjects. Mocroprocessor Electronics Laboratory of the department is equipped with all types of Educational Practice Kits (Micorcontrollers, ARMprocessors, DSP2812 kits) for the Laboratory courses at UG/PG and research level. The laboratory is equipped with DSP based induction motor drives and BLDC drives for the purpose of research.

STTP OBJECTIVE

GOI has set an objective of providing training to teachers of Engineering Colleges. In line with this aim, this STTP is focusing on exposing delegates to recent developments in the field of Power Electronics. Experts from reputed Academic Institutions and Industry will share their knowledge and experience. In addition to that the faculty members of the department will deliver lectures on various topics in the area of power electronics. This STTP aims to provide more exposure in practical as well as simulation software tools in the subject.

COURSE CONTENTS

* Overview of 8bit and 32bit microcontroller architecture.
* Architecture of 8051, Different peripherals (TIMER, UART, parallel ports), interrupt mechanism
* Introduction to KEIL IDE and embedded ‘C’ programming
* Key board, Display and ADC interfacing
* Advancements in 8051 architecture (100 MIPs 8051 from SI labs)
* Introduction CORTEX M3 ARM processor
* Fixed point and floating point arithmetic in embedded systems

The course contains both theory and Lab sessions.

ELIGIBILITY

Faculty from AICTE recognized institutes are eligible to apply.

LAST DATE FOR REGISTRATION - 1st Dec. 2009.

PRE-REQUISITE FOR THE COURSE

Basic knowledge of digital electronics, and ‘C’ programming.

COURSE FEE

There is no registration fee for the faculty from AICTE recognized institutes. Applicant is required to attach sponsorship letter from parent institute along with registration form.

ACCOMODATION

Accommodation will be provided to interested participants in institute hostels on prior request.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The institute was established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College and was given a Deemed University status on 4th October 2002 as a National Institute of Technology. The institute is located 10 kms away from Surat Railway Station. Surat is located about 250 kms from Mumbai on Mumbai-Baroda Western railway line. It has many industries like RIL, ONGC, KRIBHCO, L&T ESSAR NTPC, GAIL over and above the Textile, Zari and Diamond Industries. The climate of the city is pleasant in the month of December. The temperature remains in the range of 25-300C.
