ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Electrical Engineering Department was started in 1967. Over the years, the Department has progressed at a rapid pace with the development in the spheres of infrastructural facilities and advanced syllabi. The Department is offering M. Tech. and Ph. D. programs since year 2006. The Department’s various Laboratories are equipped with latest equipments, Computers and latest Software related to subjects.

STTP OBJECTIVE

GOI has set an objective of providing training to teachers of Engineering Colleges. In line with this aim, this STTP is focusing on exposing delegates to recent development in high voltage testing techniques. This STTP aims to provide exposure in high voltage testing techniques of different power apparatus as per national and international standard.

COURSE CONTENTS

• Generation and measurement of high voltages
• High voltage testing of transformers, CTs, PTs, switchgear, Isolators
• High voltage power frequency AC test
• High voltage DC test
• Lightning and Switching Impulse test
• Partial discharge measurement
• Dielectric loss measurement
• Frequency response analysis

ELIGIBILITY

Faculty from AICTE recognized institutes are eligible to apply.

LAST DATE FOR REGISTRATION - 14th Dec 2009.

PRE-REQUISITE FOR THE COURSE

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

COURSE FEE

There is no registration fee for the faculty from AICTE recognized institutes. Applicant is required to attach sponsorship letter from parent institute along with registration form.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation will be provided to interested participants in institute hostels on prior request.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The institute was established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College and was given a Deemed University status on 4th October 2002 as a National Institute of Technology. The institute is located 10 kms away from Surat Railway Station. Surat is located about 250 kms from Mumbai on Mumbai-Baroda Western railway line. It has many industries like RIL, ONGC, KRIBHCO, L&T ESSAR NTPC, GAIL over and above the Textile, Zari and Diamond Industries. The temperature of the city in the month of December remains in the range of 18 - 25oC.
