ROLE OF STRUCTURAL MODELLING OF BRIDGE STRUCTURES IN REHABILITATION
ABSTARCT
The degree of rehabilitation of bridge structures depends mainly upon its design and various forces considered while design is being done. For this purpose analysis of structure plays an important role before and after the disaster has occurred. For accurate analysis results accurate modeling of the bridge prototype plays a very important role. For comparative study of different methods of analysis applied, uniformity in the method of modeling is necessary. Also type of modeling is depends upon the degree of accuracy required and the forces to be accounted. So for cost effective analysis one must know the variations in the result for different types of modeling and the causes of inaccuracies in the analysis of bridge. This paper makes an attempt to simulate and test various structural components of bridge structure, with various functions available in analysis and design software SAP2000 7.4V.An attempt has also been made to study the effects on the bridge structure such as soil flexibility effects and hydrodynamic forces and also the seismic acceleration effect. Study of three models previously developed has also been included .also this paper attempts to highlight various structural components of bridge such as diaphragm, support arrangement .models developed earlier and their options developed in sap2000 in order to simulate various structural members and effect of forces such as variation in soil stiffness with the depth of well foundations .finite element method is used to model multi spanned r.c.c bridge in three different models. This paper is an attempt to bring uniformity in modeling of bridges of multi spanned R.C.C simply supported bridges, so that comparison between designs can be made with more accuracy.
