Arvind K. Singhal
Chairman, Technopak Advisors Pvt. Ltd.
Course description
India, currently a US$ 1370 Billion economy, is poised to double by 2020 if it continues to have a real CAGR of about 8%. While the “services” sector has dominated the attention and interest of many in India, led by IT / ITES and then financial services, the next decade could well be the one characterised by “manufacturing” albeit with “innovation”. If that be so, it will throw up an unprecedented demand for engineers and engineering services. For those with an entrepreneurial inclination, “innovative engineering and manufacturing” led entrepreneurial opportunities will be in abundant supply. Where will these opportunities be, how can engineers and engineering students prepare themselves for taking advantage of such opportunities, and what “highs” and “challenges” can entrepreneurs expect compared with their peers who would pursue traditional jobs? The program will attempt to address these questions in 4 sub‐modules of about 2 hours each.
Course structure
Module‐1: Macro Economic India 2020 (India in 2020, scale and growth rates of different sectors and subsectors, changes in consumption patterns, and some insights into consumers of 2020)
Module‐2: Manufacturing India 2010‐2020: The biggest sectors, and changes in type of engineering and manufacturing skills in demand
Module‐3: Self‐diagnostic of entrepreneurial ability, and spotting entrepreneurial opportunity
