National Seminar on Brain Awareness Program At Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) is organizing a National Seminar on "Brain Awareness Program" on March 24 and March 25, 2011, in association with National Brain Research Center (NBRC), Manesar at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology, Amethi (RGIIT). This is the second Seminar under the IIIT-A's "Brain Awareness Program".
The seminar targets different sectors of the society in order to create an awareness of the Brain, its function related to the cognitive abilities of the human being, and the abnormalities & diseases as a result of the impairment of the functioning of the brain. The seminar targets the common people to make them aware of the brain related anomalies & diseases and communicate that these could be effectively treated, targets the researchers the field to make them aware of the current state of research in order to promote take up further research in this area especially using the Information Technology as the main tool, targets the students of the schools and colleges to make them aware of this exciting field and induce/motivate them to take up the related areas of study and research.
Since inception of RGIIT in 2005 the Institute has organized, a number of S & T National and International Seminars on different aspects for Empowerment of Rural India and has set up Discovery Park.
Objectives and Expectations from the Seminar
The aim of this Seminar is to spread awareness about the brain and its functions among all segments of society, with the help of experts like Neuroscientists, Neuro-physicians & Surgeons Cognitive scientists, Academicians, NGOs etc.
The major themes of the seminar are:
1. Knowledge of Brain structure & its function
2. Brain and its evolution
3. Neurological modeling and simulations
4. Brain and cognition
5. Clinical aspects of neurological systems
6. Brain related diseases and treatments
Methodology
The deliberations of the Seminar would include presentations and discussions by experts and participants; group discussions and case studies, students papers, Medicals consultants and exhibition.
