NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING MATERIALS

NATIONAL CONFERENCE
ON
ADVANCES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING MATERIALS
[ACEM-2013]
July, 22-23, 2013
Organized by
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
HAMIRPUR – 177 005 (HP)

INTRODUCTION
Ever since the advent of cement, continued research and indigenous efforts have established cement concrete as a versatile construction material conforming to new concepts in design with possibility of realizing the same through advanced technology. However, the last three decades have also seen the advent of new materials and a quest for the use of alternate construction materials like composites; polymers etc., along with cement structures. In a country, like India, where the demands far exceeds the resources, it becomes paramount to
focus the attention and effort on non-traditional and innovative approaches. There is always a need to explore the wide field of conventional and new materials for eco-friendly and efficient construction.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the conference is to bring Civil Engineers, material scientist/engineer, practicing and consulting engineers and engineering geologists, researchers, owner and construction managers, government officials, public and private contractors, equipment and its products suppliers, as well as all those involved with engineering works related to construction materials, on a common platform to discuss about the advances, their recent experiences and interesting developments in civil engineering materials so as to provide a meaningful answer to India’s challenge in the new millennium.

THEMES
 New engineering materials;
 Characterization of materials;
 Physical properties of material;
 Development in material processing;
 Evaluation performance of material;
 Quality control - life cycle analysis;
 Sustainability and durability of civil engineering materials.
