International Conference on Frontiers of Infrastructure Finance (ICFIF 2011) At Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
International Conference on Frontiers of Infrastructure Finance (ICFIF 2011) At Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
Organized by
Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) & RCG School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM)
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India
INTRODUCTION
Sustainable economic growth is one of the principal objectives of the developing world. The major precondition for attaining this goal, however, is the availability of infrastructure in the economy, both in passable quantity and quality. Infrastructure is considered as the wheel, if not the engine of development. The deficiency of infrastructure will certainly hamper sustainable economic growth. In most of the developing countries including India, the status of infrastructure is low as compared to the need of the respective countries. While the demand for infrastructure is growing at a much faster rate, supply is more or less stagnant. This is mostly due to the rapid urbanization and globalization taking place across the world.
The major hurdle for closing this demand and supply gap is the non-availability of finance for infrastructure creation. Despite the large number of projects that are either in progress or in the pipeline, India is continuously challenged to cope with an increasing demand for infrastructure services. The government has put together an ambitious plan to upgrade and expand infrastructure with special focus on urban infrastructure, particularly transportation, power, water, etc. Within this context the private sector is expected to provide the necessary investment through privatization and PPP schemes. The development of this sector is anticipated to stimulate economic growth, creat jobs, diversify economy and improve the quality of life in the country.
The aim of this International Conference on ‘Frontiers of Infrastructure Finance’ is to bring together different stakeholders from various parts of the world to a single platform to exchange views and share knowledge so as to build a road map for infrastructure creation and its management.

Achieving Growth, Profitability and Sustainability in a Globalized Environment
The formation of the WTO and a parallel growth of the Information Technology and the Internet are the two most important events in recent times that has made nations more interdependent and closer. Free flows of people, information, products and services between national boundaries are fast becoming a reality ushering in a “Globalized World” integrating the economies and the societies. The phenomenon has equally impacted the supply chain and businesses are increasingly becoming global. In such a globalized and highly competitive environment sustaining growth and achieving profitability of the supply chain has become much more complex and challenging. The challenges are enormous in terms of understanding the dynamics and the complexity of the global supply chain. Time is opportune to develop innovative tools that can handle the complexities of the global supply chain and give efficient, effective and implementable solutions.
Further, customized products and changing taste of the customers have brought in severe challenges before the managers of the manufacturing firms of a supply chain to meet the accepted quality while satisfying the variety at minimum time and cost. Emergence of themes like agile manufacturing, network manufacturing, knowledgeable manufacturing, flexible systems of manufacturing management are some of the areas which are recommended as possible solutions to the vexed problem encountered by the manufacturing firm. In view of this, the conference aims at providing a platform where practitioner, researchers and academicians from diverse background interact and share their ideas and experiences in order to facilitate future collaborations for management of manufacturing activities, functional integration, solving supply chain problem and the related research agenda.

Call For Workshop Proposals
The ICCCT-2011 organizing committee invites proposals for workshops to be held at the International Conference on Computer Communication &Technology, immediately prior to the technical conference, on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, UP, India.
ICCCT-2011 will provide an informal setting where participants will have the opportunity to discuss specific technical topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas. Members from all segments of the Computer and Communication community are invited to submit workshop proposals for review. Workshops that focus on new and emerging topics, or on applications, are particularly encouraged. To facilitate interaction and a broad exchange of ideas, each workshop will be limited to 50 participants and should plan for ample time to foster open discussions. Affiliated workshops will be held on Thursday-Friday, September 15-16. The purpose of these workshops is to provide a platform for presenting novel ideas in a less formal and possibly more focused way than the conferences themselves. As such, they also offer a good opportunity for young researchers to present their work and to obtain feedback from an interested community. The format of each workshop is to be determined by the organizers, but it is expected that they contain ample time for general discussion. The preference is for one-day workshops, but other schedules will also be considered.
Submission Information
Proposals for workshops should contain :
• A title and brief (2-page max) description of the workshop topic and content.
• A brief discussion of why and to whom the workshop is of interest
• The desired workshop length (one or two days), and an estimate of the audience size.
• The names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the organizers, with one-paragraph statements of their research interests and areas of expertise.
• A budget.
• A list of potential members of the program committee, with an indication of which members have already agreed.
• A description of any shared tasks associated with the workshop.
• A description of special requirements for technical needs.
• The name of the primary contact for the organizing committee; this person must have an email address.
• The URL of the workshop web site.
Responsibilities of ICCCT 2011 and Workshop Organizers
For all accepted proposals, ICCCT-2011 will be responsible for :
• Providing publicity for the workshop series as a whole.
• Providing logistic support and a meeting place for the workshop.
• Together with the organizers, determining the workshop date and time.
• Duplicating working notes and distributing them to the participants.
Workshop organizers will be responsible for the following :
• Setting up a Web site for the workshop according to the template that will be distributed upon acceptance.
• Advertising the workshop and issuing a call for participation/papers. The call must make it clear that the workshop is open to all members of the Computer & Communication community. It should also note that the number of participants is strictly limited. The call should also make clear the process by which the Organizing Committee will select the participants.
• Collecting submissions, notifying acceptances in due time, and ensuring a transparent and fair selection process. All workshop organizers commit themselves to adopt the same deadlines for submissions and notifications of acceptance.
• Making the PDF of the whole workshop notes available to the workshop chair (up to a maximum of 200 pages) as well as a list of audio-visual requirements and any special room requirements.
• Ensuring that the workshop organizers and the participants get registered to the workshop are invited to register to the main conference.
ICCCT-2011 encourages the production of publications based on the workshops, but the ICCCT-2011 name cannot be used on such publications without prior permission. ICCCT-2011 reserves the right to cancel any workshop if deadlines are missed or if too few attendees register for the workshop to support its running costs. To cover costs, it will be necessary to charge workshop participants a workshop fee
Please send proposals and inquiries to: iccct2011@gmail.com

National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 2011 At Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 2011 At Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
About the Conference
Aspirations and needs of mankind are ever growing, and so also the need for refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC). Now it is an important aspect of human life including essential applications from submarines to airplanes, underground mines to space, comfort purpose to manufacturing industries. The importance of ‘cold chain’ in the national food security has now been recognized. In the recent years, RAC industry recorded an annual growth of over 25 % in India, next only to Information Technology and Automobile sectors. However, RAC is also an energy guzzler accounting to nearly one sixth of the world energy consumption. Even though the objective of Montreal Protocol governing the ozone depletion is nearly met, those of Kyoto Protocol centered on the emissions leading to Global Warming are yet to be realized.
Thus both energy and environmental aspects play an important role in the development of RAC sector world over.
The National Conference on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (NCRAC-2011) is scheduled to be held during 21 – 23 July 2011 at IIT Madras. National Management Convention “The Business of Innovation” At Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneshwar
National Management Convention “The Business of Innovation” At Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneshwar
Call for Papers
“Great innovations should not be forced on slender majorities”…………….Thomas Jefferson. Indeed, it is those few with great ideas who make all the difference to the world we live in today. “Innovation” is what distinguishes a leader from followers. It is also a great leveler, as no particular entity has a monopoly over it or is endowed with a greater ability to
innovate. As the world gets more connected, businesses are getting increasingly competitive. Access to capital is easier, Human Resources are more mobile, Technology has done away with several barriers to business, greater availability of information has made customers more sophisticated and environmental sustainability has assumed much greater
proportion in business decisions. In such a scenario, to stay relevant and profitable, businesses world over have to
constantly re-think their business models to tweak their products, services, delivery and internal processes. However, this is easier said than done. To make matters complex, in the context of business, Innovation that is not profitable or sustainable may not find takers. What the KIIT School of Management National Management Convention on
the “Business of Innovation” aims to do is:
• Shed more light on innovations that makes sense in the current business landscape
• Provide insights on how to make sustainable and profitable innovations The papers should be original research work discussing new ideas, concepts, and paradigms on the above topic and could either be empirical or theoretical work based
on the following subthemes.
